Finally sharing the design system I've been obsessively building for the past three months! What started as a client project evolved into a personal obsession with creating a flexible visual language that blends AI-generated elements with traditional design frameworks.
The Brief
A sustainable fashion startup needed product imagery that could scale with their rapidly growing catalog without repetitive photoshoots. They wanted a distinctive visual identity that would stand out in crowded social feeds.
The Challenge
Creating consistency with generative AI is notoriously difficult. My early attempts produced beautiful individual images but lacked cohesion across the collection.
The Breakthrough
Rather than generating complete images, I developed a modular approach:
Creating a library of consistent background environments
Generating product visualizations separately
Establishing a fixed post-processing workflow to unify the aesthetic
I built a custom prompt template with locked parameters for lighting and composition, while allowing controlled variation in setting and mood. The team can now generate on-brand imagery by selecting modular combinations from the system.
Unexpected Outcomes
The most interesting development wasn't technical but organizational. The marketing team, previously dependent on the design department, now independently generates daily content using the system. My role shifted from creating individual assets to maintaining and evolving the design framework itself.
What I'd Do Differently
Next time, I'd establish clearer boundaries between AI-generated and human-designed elements from the start. Some of our early experimentations went too far into uncanny territory, requiring substantial rework to find the right balance.
Curious about this approach? I'm considering releasing the framework templates next month. Let me know if that would be helpful for your workflow!
